Happiest Birthday to the newest Sunflower Queen!

The year 2021 is known as The Year of the Sunflower. It is so fitting because our Beloved Shirley Ann, the original Sunflower Queen, left us for unending heavenly sunflower fields in 2021. We have missed her every single day since, but she has crowned a new Sunflower Queen.

Our once “so-all-business” Honey has completely transformed into a “no stranger-social butterfly.” There are so many parallels between our sweet Honey and the regal sunflower. Sunflowers are both extremely strong and endlessly beautiful. They also symbolize adoration, loyalty, and provision. Anyone who knows Honey knows that she sees and admires all the good in each person, she’s fiercely loyal to those she loves, and she gives and gives to anyone who crosses her path. Sunflowers can also absorb evil toxins from the soil. She is also extremely capable of moving beyond any and all hindrances that paralyze most people. The sunflower is also made up of thousands of tiny flowers. I just love this so much because there are thousands of beautiful parts that make up my mom. Another fun fact about sunflowers is that they are known to soothe chest pain, and the crushed stems can be used to heal wounds without any infection. I know for a fact that my mom has helped heal many, many of my wounds throughout my years. Last but not least, just looking at a sunflower can make anyone feel happier. Honey radiates goodness, joy, and love, and anyone that is simply near her knows this to be very, very true.

Mom, I love you more than I have words for. I’m eternally grateful to be your daughter and to watch you live life to the fullest with gratitude and love for God. I wish you the Happiest Birthday, and I cannot wait to celebrate you this summer.

I love you forever,

Your Sunflower-in-training
